Moreover, the indirect effect indicated that only relationshipbetween secure maternal attachment and cognitive distortion was completelymediated by self-regulation. The finding indicated a significant positive relationship between securematernal attachment and self-regulation as well as the relationship betweeninsecure maternal attachment and cognitive distortion, while, a significantnegative relationship was found between self-regulation and cognitivedistortion. Datafrom 440 Muslim adolescents (aged between 14 and 18) from the Juvenile RehabilitationResidential schools in Malaysia were examined using the structural equation model(AMOS). Therefore,the aim of the current study is to explore the relationship between maternal attachment(i.e., secure and insecure) and cognitive distortion of Muslim adolescents inJuvenile Rehabilitation Residential schools mediated by self-regulation. The increase in disorderly behaviors at the adolescent stage is a major dilemma for Malaysian society as the number ofcriminal cases committed by Muslim adolescents is increasing from time to time.These unwanted behaviors may be triggered by the quality of attachmentrelationships and errors in terms of the adolescent’s cognitive interpretation.
In the meantime, multiple approaches should be critically analysed to enrich the corpus of knowledge in this field. In summary, effective parenting skills is a must in developing strong, beneficial and mindful generation. Each domain was interrelated in empowering and completing the challenging task of today's parenting. The model encompassed four main element of Muslim parenting: knowledge and education, relationship with Allah, relationship with children and relationship with others. Thus, al-Ghazali's Parenting Skill's Attributes Model was developed as a basis to understand parenting from al-Ghazali's perspectives. His multidiscipline works range from the field of religion to education, psychology, spirituality and philosophy. Meanwhile, Imam al-Ghazali is a Muslim scholar which also discusses certain aspects of parenting skills. This is then followed by continuous guidance during adolescent and adulthood from the parents. Early education which begins at home is like stonework more impressive and everlasting. Parenting skills is the basis of effective education and human potential development in family.
